You’re an innovator who loves solving problems.

You have a mechanical aptitude and a drive to be creative.

You find challenges exhilarating.

If you find yourself nodding your head so far, we’d love to show you how your ingenuity and creativity can produce engineering solutions for ergonomic and motion control products.

Motion Control Engineering & Manufacturing Careers

Weber Knapp has designed, developed, and manufactured mechanical hardware and kinematic motion control devices since 1909. We pride ourselves on developing new technologies that provide improved safety, enhanced user experience, upgraded overall function, and product differentiation to our customers’ products.

During a career at Weber Knapp, you’ll use your skills to perfect a range of products across several industries, including:

  • Luxury, commercial, and outdoor kitchen appliance hinges: We design motion control solutions for luxury, professional, and outdoor kitchen appliances to make cooking, baking, and grilling easier, safer, and more enjoyable.
  • Medical ergonomics & equipment: We increase medical workplace safety with ergonomic products like blood-draw stations, ergonomic products for computer carts, x-ray monitor display stands, and hinges for medical equipment.
  • Ergonomic office products: We make work life more comfortable with ergonomic office accessories like keyboard trays, monitor arms, computer trolleys, and more.
  • Hospitality: We drive innovation in the hospitality industry with motion control hinges for flip-up bar tops, Murphy beds, food prep tables, and more.
  • Industrial heavy-duty hinges: We use spring and counterbalance technology to move away from unreliable pressure cylinders while increasing efficiency and safety in the industrial environment.

Unleash Your Creativity

Weber Knapp values out-of-the-box thinking. Our clients come to us with unique problems. We deliver imaginative yet practical solutions. You’ll get to come up with solutions, like:

  • A comfortable hotel workspace: Travelers increasingly use their hotel rooms as workspaces. We helped our client Artone design a Murphy bed with adjustable back-support panels and a fold-down desk so guests could have a comfortable place to get to work.
  • Protecting historical documents: The Rotunda of the National Archives Building in Washington, D.C., displays several historical documents. Using our proprietary Vectis™ technology, we developed a hinge mechanism that would provide a safer and simpler means to open and close the lids on cases that hold historical documents like the Gettysburg Address and the voting ledger of the First Constitutional Congress.
  • Vacuum chamber required a safety upgrade: Sometimes, clients come to us when a previous solution failed. Applied Materials needed to replace the side-mounted gas springs that were used to reduce the force required to lift the heavy lid of their vacuum chamber. We retrofitted a new and more robust spring counterbalance system incorporating a precise hinge bearing system in and on the existing machine components.
  • Work & fun go together: One of our newest products came from our employees’ shared passion for grilling and smoking meat. Our engineers wondered if they could make it easier to open and close the heavy lid on a drum smoker. They designed a drum smoker hinge and a latch handle that solves this problem. The Smokin' Ugly® brand was born and a line of accessories was created.
