When people picture sales, they often think of quick transactions and short-term targets.

At Weber Knapp, the reality is different. Sales means building long-term partnerships, finding the right solutions, and guiding projects from the first discussion through to delivery — sometimes years later.

That’s the approach Jody Osgood has brought to the company for more than a decade. In that time, he’s helped turn customer ideas into finished products, represented Weber Knapp at industry events, and worked closely with teams across the company to ensure every project meets the highest standards.

Jody’s Story

Jody joined Weber Knapp after deciding to pursue a career in the manufacturing industry, but focus more directly on sales and account management. “I realized I enjoyed being in sales within the manufacturing industry and having a part in growing a company,” he recalls. Jody Osgood 1

He started as a Sales Account Manager, learning the company’s products and processes while working with existing customers. Before long, he took on additional responsibilities as an Inside Sales Representative – a shift that brought new opportunities like attending trade shows and developing projects with first-time clients, and current customers.

His consistent results – meeting and exceeding annual goals – led to a promotion to Regional Sales Manager, a position he’s held for several years. Today, Jody manages projects from initial concept to final delivery, ensuring each one meets Weber Knapp’s standards for quality and performance.

What Does a Regional Sales Manager Do?

The day-to-day for Jody includes:

  • Helping customers choose the right counterbalance hardware for their projects
  • Coordinating with teams on custom hinge solutions for grills, cabinetry, bar counters, and other products
  • Managing timelines and updates for orders using motion control products
  • Following up on quotes and forecasts to keep projects moving
  • Developing new contacts and opportunities for potential future projects

Much of the job involves collaboration. He works closely with Design Engineering to refine concepts, with Purchasing to track components, and with Production to keep schedules on track. “All of these interactions reinforce how important it is that we work together as a team,” Jody says. “We all need each other in order for Weber Knapp to be successful and grow.”

New Challenges on the Horizon

Right now, Jody is working with Weber Knapp’s Design Engineering team to bring several fresh ideas into production. Current highlights include:

  • Developing a Vectis™ counterbalance system for residential attic stairs

  • Creating tailored hinge assemblies for unique customer applications

  • Preparing for a grill hinge project that’s about to enter development/prototyping

Each project presents challenges. For one, coordinating with multiple departments is critical to meeting both the customer’s performance requirements and Weber Knapp’s manufacturing capabilities. In another, a material change had to be explored to keep the project on schedule while preserving quality – a problem-solving process that required input from engineering, purchasing, and production.

The work is also about building and maintaining strong relationships – with clients, engineers, production teams, and others who keep projects moving. Staying connected makes it easier to solve problems and share ideas.

The best moments come when a customer receives a solution that fits their needs exactly, showing the skill and collaboration that run through every project at Weber Knapp.  “It’s satisfying to see all the pieces come together,” Jody says. “When a project has gone through months or even years of development, there’s nothing better than delivering exactly what the customer was hoping for.”
